The Understanding and Causes of Sports Injuries

The Understanding and Causes of Sports Injuries. Sports injuries are injuries to the integument system, muscle and skeletal caused by sports activities. Sports injuries are caused by various factors such as wrong of training methods, structural abnormalities or physiological weaknesses backers tissues and muscle (Bahr et al. 2003).

Wrong of Training Methods

Wrong training methods is the most frequent cause of injury to muscles and joints.
Some of the things that often happens is.
  1. Non-realization of adequate warm-up and cooling making the physical exercise that occurs physiologically can not be adapted by the body.
  2. The use of intensity, frequency, duration and type of exercise that does not comply with the rules of the physical state of a person as well as general health.
  3. The principle of overload is often translated as exercises that are based on the principle of "no pain no gain" as well as exercise frequency is very high. It is not appropriate given the pain is a signal of their injuries in the body either micro or macro injury. In this state the body does not have time to repair the damaged tissue (Stevenson et al. 2000).
The Understanding and Causes of Sports Injuries

Structural Abnormalities

Structural abnormalities can increase a person's sensitivity to sports injuries, because in this situation occurs undue pressure on certain body parts. For example, if the long legs are not the same, then the hip and knee in the legs longer will get greater pressure.

Biomechanical factors that cause injury to the feet, legs and hips are pronation (rotating the feet into the ground). Degree of pronation is normal and prevents injuries by helping distribute power to the entire foot. Excessive pronation can cause pain in the feet, knees and legs.

The ankle is very flexible so when walking or running, arch of the foot touches the ground and the foot becomes flat. If someone has a stiff ankle, there will be the opposite, namely the lack of pronation. Legs seem to have very high arches and can not absorb shock well, thus increasing the risk of small cracks in the foot and leg bones (fractures due to pressure) (Gleim et al. 1997).

The Weakness of Muscle, Tendon and Ligaments

If the pressures are greater than natural strength, the muscles, tendons and ligaments will be experiencing tear. Joints more susceptible to injury when the muscles and ligaments that underpin is weak. Brittle bones due to osteoporosis fractures easily. Strengthening exercises can help prevent injury. The only way to strengthen the muscles are practiced against the detainees, who were gradually added strength (Meeuwisse 1994).

So that the article about the understanding and causes of sports injuries that may be experienced by our are often do sports. By knowing the causes of sports injuries then we can train and improve ourselves as efforts to prevent sports injuries. Thanks.
